Quick Ways to Enhance Your Photos with Lightroom CC

Wed Jan 17th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Numerous photographers have discovered that one of the easiest ways to organize, edit, and output their photographs is with Adobe Lightroom. If you’re looking to quickly and efficiently enhance your photos using professional methods then this workshop is for you.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Organize your photos
  • Photograph directly to your computer using Lightroom through tethered capture
  • Enhance your photos easily and efficiently
  • White Balance and creatively color grading your photos
  • Work with short video clips inside Lightroom and match the color to your photos
  • Output your photos to print, web, and video
Brand Yourself: Using Your Initials to Create a Logo Monogram

Even if you aren’t a rockstar graphic designer, you can still create a basic logo for yourself that tells your story and represents you. We’ll show you how to play with type to make a logo out of your initials or name that stands out. Using Adobe Illustrator, we’ll cover basics of typography and how to manipulate type.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Understand all the type tools in Illustrator
  • Turn type into a vector and manipulate it
  • Understand basic type terminology and rules
  • How to choose fonts based on design choices
Creating an Animated Instagram Post with After Effects

Mon Jan 22nd, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

With 800 million monthly active users, Instagram is the social media platform to be on. Learn how to spice up your personal Instagram or a company’s Instagram feed with some fun and simple animated posts. We’ll show you how to import an Illustrator file with your layers intact and animate those layers with different effects. Make objects scale, fly in, and magically appear!

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Prepare an Illustrator file for import into After Effects
  • Import an Illustrator file into After Efects as footage, by choosing a layer or as a Composition
  • Scale, move, and rotate objects
  • Make objects appear and disappear
  • Make your animations move seamlessly
  • Export your animation to be Instagram ready
Making and Printing Business Cards with InDesign

Mon Jan 22nd, 5:00pm – 7:00pm

A business card is a must-have item to promote yourself, whether you’re networking at a conference or serendipitously meet a potential client or collaborator at a cafe.  Your business card should tell your story and be easy to read. We’ll show you how you can bring your existing logo, your copy, and bring it all together in InDesign to create a professional business card that you’ll be proud to hand to someone.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Layout your business card using guides, grids, and the align panel
  • Plan a front and back business card
  • Set up your design for print
  • Export your design to be printed
Creating Custom Artwork with Illustrator

Wed Jan 24th, 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Drawing tools like the pencil and pen tool can seem daunting to use. We’ll show you how you can use the power of the pen tool to trace or adjust objects and make them into vectors that can be customized. Throughout the course, we’ll practice drawing and let you have some fun with making your own objects. Note: This is an intermediate course and some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is highly recommended.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Start drawing with the pencil and pen tool
  • Learn how to trace objects and customize them
  • Manipulate anchor points
  • Free hand draw with curvature tool
  • Create symbols and icons
Making A Simple, Cohesive Icon Set in Illustrator

Thurs Jan 25th, 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Learn how easy it is to create your own custom cohesive icon set in Adobe Illustrator. We’ll show you good examples of icon sets and discuss how the design choices create the brand’s tone or mood. You’ll then take those concepts and apply them to creating your own icon set using various tools and panels in Illustrator, including the Pathfinder panel, shape and line tool, Align panel, and more.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Utilize the Pathfinder panel to combine, subtract, and divide objects together
  • Use the align panel to create symmetry
  • Manipulate anchor points
  • Create shapes and lines with ease
  • Adjust stroke and curves
  • Prepare your icons on artboard and export them for their final destination
Content 101: Building a Social Media Content Strategy

Social media is more than just an Instagram handle, and developing relevant, engaging content is more important than ever. Whether you want to learn about managing content for a future job or want to develop a content plan for your own brand, this workshop will help you understand content strategy and look at what you post in a whole different way.

  • Bridge business/brand goals with audience needs in terms of content

How to Make Micro Videos for Social Media

Micro-videos are easily shareable and quickly consumable, making them a great way to showcase your news, campaign, or report. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to condense information into just 10 to 15 seconds of video. We’ll use Premiere to compile small clips together with concise captions. Then, we’ll show you the best way to prep your micro-video for export and how to make it digestible for your audience.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Create micro-videos like AJ+, Playground +, NowThisNews, etc.
  • How to slice, trim, and compile video clips
  • Create captions with simple transitions

Showcasing Your Portfolio Work in Creative Ways

Learn how to take advantage of Photoshop templates that use the power of smart objects to display your work and make it look even better than it already does. We’ll show you some of our favorite sites to grab templates from, how to import your work, and then export it for display on your website or portfolio deck.

The Art of Search Engine Optimization

Creative Resume Techniques with InDesign

Regardless of your area of focus, a strong and visually compelling resume has a far better chance of getting you noticed, than doing the same thing as everyone else. We’ll tackle some challenges that arise in resume design – including ways to display lists, and design tips for both a sparse and an overcrowded resume.

Content 101: Developing and Maintaining Your Online Content

After learning how to ideate and plan your social media content strategy, this second part to Content 101 helps you apply the concepts behind content to real-life scenarios, leaving with you tactics you can use right away.

Creating Cooler Lower Thirds with After Effects

Mon Feb 12th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Creating lower thirds graphics is a great way to show titles, introduce what’s coming on next or who’s speaking, or describe a news segment during broadcast. As the name suggests, they are placed in the lower area of the screen, and can contain elements like images, animated backgrounds and text. While you can create basic title card and lower thirds in Premiere, we’ll take you into the world of After Effects to make them cooler and more exciting.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Build a simple lower third graphic in After Effects or in Illustrator
  • Understand how a lower 3rd functions within a full graphic package
  • Employ standard practices for making text easier to read
  • Animate a lower 3rd on
  • Animate a lower 3rd off
  • Techniques for building multiple lower 3rds quickly and efficiently
  • Export a lower 3rd as a keyable title animation for use in Premiere Pro or other video editing application
Intermediate Video Workflows with Premiere

Mon Feb 12th, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

If you have a basic understanding of how to edit your videos and refine your audio using Premiere Pro (the industry-standard video editing software) and you want to learn intermediate level editing techniques then this workshop was designed for you. We’ll also examine how to integrate other Adobe applications (e.g. Photoshop, Audition, and After Effects) can edit, adjust color, refine audio, and more — all in one seamless, integrated workflow.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to do the following:
