Making Lower Thirds Graphics In AE

Intro to Lower Thirds

Creating lower thirds graphics is a great way to show titles, introduce what’s coming on next or describe a news segment during broadcast. As the name suggests, they are placed in the lower area of the screen, and can contain elements like images, animated backgrounds and text. Some broadcasters may use “snipes” to introduce the next show, or maybe during a television show, a lower third will show what’s airing at a later date. With Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, you can create some compelling lower thirds to suit television news productions, documentaries and more. The following is a step by step to create lower thirds or “snipes” using these Adobe Tools.
