About

The Digital Lounge is a creative makerspace where members of the Annenberg community can learn to experiment and play with the digital tools they have received as part of the Digital Literacy Initiative. We are located on the third floor of our new, state-of-the-art building, Wallis Annenberg Hall, located right in the heart of campus and literally designed to foster creativity, collaboration and media. Through workshops, events, helpdesk support and Adobe Certification Courses, we aim to promote a DIY culture that empowers our students to create and learn, regardless of their background or prior experience. From audio to video, to interactivity and the web, we want to make these tools approachable and fun for all!

Paul Richardson Student Helpdesk

Our student helpdesk (a.k.a. “Genius Bar”) was sponsored by Paul J. Richardson, Chief Diversity Officer at the Walt Disney Company and Senior VP of Human Resources at ESPN. Leveraging USC talent, we’ve worked hard to create a diverse team of Media Specialists with expertise in graphic design, web, photography, film, animation, architecture and engineering. Members of the Annenberg community can roll-up with their devices to receive one-on-one assistance.

We like to joke that we are the opposite of an old skool library — we play music and want you to talk out loud to your neighbor. So, if you’re looking for a place to hang out and make things, we are your home away from home. We feature moving furniture, bean bags, monitors, and whiteboards throughout the space to foster creativity and collaboration. What better place to work on a project than one where help is just a few steps away!

The Lab (ANN 301D) is our newly-designed workshop space, where you can roll up with your own machine and be prepared to dig into a project or piece of software. We partner with faculty, local organizations, and companies like Apple, Facebook, and Tableau to bring a variety of events and workshops that are open to the Annenberg community. In addition, we host 10-week Adobe certification courses every semester. Please check out our calendar  for an up-to-date schedule.
