Adobe Max 2019

Digital Lounge Team

This past week at the LA Convention Center, creative professionals gathered at Adobe MAX to participate in over 300 sessions, labs, and workshops with industry leaders. This event is an annual conference featuring the latest Adobe innovations and a space to network with other creatives. This year focused heavily on new features using Sensei, Adobe’s artificial intelligence technology, and making apps accessible on mobile and tablet devices. Here are the highlights from CC 2020:

Sensei has several experimental features that will be integrated into the apps in the future.

About Face focuses on the detection of manipulation on a person’s face. The AI is used to analyze the pixels of an image and will then determine the amount of editing done. It will now be easier to tell if you’re being deceived.

The New Object Selection Tool in Photoshop allows you to drag a box around an object you want selected and automatically creates a clean selection around the borders of your object. This saves time and cuts out the frustration one might run into when trying to select an object with complex borders.

Auto Reframe automatically edits and crops videos for different social media platforms in Adobe Premiere. The new tool analyzes each frame so as not to crop out the subject or any action, giving you more time to focus on your content instead of the tedious tasks of editing, like reframing.

Photoshop Camera is a new AI powered app where the intent is to simplify photo editing and ease accessibility. The app recognizes the subject in the photo and suggests specific filters to apply while also allowing you to create your own custom filters within Photoshop and import them over. The app also implements a new feature, auto-masking, that uses Sensei to cleanly select any object, easing the process of photo editing on mobile. Oh, and did we mention that it’s free?

Full Version of Photoshop for iPad is now available to Creative Cloud subscribers and includes, not all, but many of the same tools that are used in the desktop version. It also pushes the use of Adobe’s Cloud PSD file format, which encourages workflow between tablet and desktop. But that’s not all. At the end of 2020, expect to see Illustrator for iPad as well!
