We’re pleased to announce two new WordPress plugins created here at the Digital Lounge: Front Page Custom Post Type and Multisite Site Index. Both plugins are simple ready-to go utilities that make it easier to display content on your site. At the DL, we’re always looking for ways to help our students manage their digital presence with WordPress. All of our plugins are available for free on WordPress.org – check them out here.

Front Page Custom Post Type lets you feature your latest portfolio items, or any other custom post type, in place of your latest posts on the front page. The front page post type can be set in the customizer’s Static Front Page section when the front page displays option is set to “your latest posts” instead of “a static page.” Thanks to our very own Triet Nguyen for creating the awesome plugin icon!

 

Multisite Site Index is a useful tool for multisite networks to automatically display an index of all of the sites on a network. It provides a widget and a shortcode and can be customized with the Additional CSS feature in WordPress 4.7. Check it out in action over at our ASCJ Class site multisite network.
