Over Spring Break, we hosted NPR: Next Generation Radio!

Digital Lounge Team

The week-long traveling program is designed to give competitively selected participants radio, social and web journalism training in a diverse environment while also creating concrete pathways into public media. We had the pleasure of hosting them in our space over Spring Break to record, edit, and present their projects.

The theme for this year’s stories was “First Days in America.” Check out their work here:  http://nextgenradio2017.uscstoryspace.com

The NPR Next Generation Radio project at USC is sponsored by the Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg (A big thanks to IDEA director Taj Frazier for support of this program!). The team from USC included Media Center Web Developer Jenn de la Fuente, Digital Journalism Professor Amara Aguilar, Media Center Coach Susan Valot, and USC Annenberg alum Carla Javira.

In addition to three Annenberg students, they also had a couple students from local Cal State Universities join the program to work along side professional mentors and our students.
