Introduction to WordPress (Rescheduled)

Thursday 1/25 | 11am-1pm | Instructor: Sean Olson

WordPress is the most popular web content management system, powering more than 42% of the internet. It allows users with limited to no coding experience to build engaging professional and personal websites.

This beginner’s workshop will introduce attendees to WordPress and how they can use it to build a simple website. By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between WordPress.com and hosted WordPress sites.
  • Build simple webpages with text and media elements.
  • Create navigation menus.
  • Customize the design and functionality of a WordPress website.
  • Change settings to personalize the site.

Data Analytics with Excel Series (Rescheduled)

Mondays 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/26, 3/4 | 4-6pm | Instructor: Rachel Whaley

Microsoft Excel is the industry standard spreadsheet editor and is one of the most important tools to learn if you want to do anything data-related with your career.

This five-part workshop series will give you an introduction to Excel and build the foundations to showcase solid data analytics skills.

UI/UX Design with Figma Series

Tuesdays 1/23, 1/30, 2/6 | 11am-1pm | Instructor: Sean Olson

User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design is a crucial part of the creation of websites, mobile apps, and the software we use every day. Figma is a browser-based design tool used to create everything from low-fidelity wireframes to complete prototypes of projects. 

This three-part workshop series will introduce you to Figma and show how you can use the software to prototype a portfolio website.

Creating Engaging Social Media Videos with Premiere Pro

Introduction to Adobe Express for PR Professionals

Adobe Express is Adobe’s premier cloud-based design tool making creating a content a breeze. With a robust asset library, content scheduling tools linked to social media and other accounts, and generative AI features like Text to Template, Adobe Express is becoming a must-have for PR professionals.

This workshop will introduce you to Adobe Express and how you can use the tool to level up your PR content skills.

Creating a Professional Podcast with Audition

It seems like everyone has a podcast nowadays – and you can too! With Adobe Audition, editing audio projects like podcast episodes isn’t as daunting as it used to be.

This introductory workshop will show you the foundational audio editing skills you need to leverage Audition to edit your own professional podcast.

Designing Dynamic Activist Content

Wednesday 2/14 | 12-2pm | Instructor: Kiara Simmons

In a world filled with unprecedented events and an overwhelming influx of information on social issues, activism has found a global stage on the internet, particularly social media.

With so much information out there, how do you make yours break through the noise? How do you craft content that is not only accurate but also compelling, capturing people’s attention and spreading your message to the people that need to see it?

In this workshop, we will discuss the ethics of online activism, and how to create content that will stand out, using Adobe Express and Premiere. By the end of the session, you’ll not only understand the nuances of effective social media activism content but will also create your own eye-catching social media post tailored to the cause you’re passionate about.

Leveraging Generative AI for Photography with Photoshop (Rescheduled)

Generative AI within Photoshop is now a possibility! With features like Generative Fill to change sections of a photo with a text prompt and Generative Expand to enlarge photos by dynamically adding content around the existing picture, making professionally edited photos in Photoshop is as easy as every.

This introductory workshop will introduce you to leveraging Photoshop’s generative AI tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand to create custom photo pieces.

Creating a Virtual Version of Yourself for a Podcast with Character Animator

Livestreaming has undergone a dramatic transformation, evolving from its origins in the gaming community to a strong presence across all online platforms. No longer confined to a niche category, livestreaming has become an essential component of online content creation.

Whether you’re hosting virtual events, providing real-time news coverage, or cultivating an influential online presence, livestreaming has become an indispensable means of engaging audiences authentically.

This workshop will take you through the basics of the YouTube and Twitch interface, delving into the strategies and insights of some of the most successful streamers, how to make your stream stand out, and even help you create some graphics that you can use during your own stream. Always at the forefront of innovation in creative technology, Adobe is quickly introducing generative AI features in their robust design tools. With new tools like Generative Recolor, Retype, and Text to Vector, Adobe Illustrator has plenty AI-powered tools to help your design process.

Web Coding Series

Have you ever wanted to make a website but felt frustrated with the limitations of website builders? Learning how to utilize HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to code a website gives you the opportunity to make a website that’s exactly to your liking!

This three-part workshop series will introduce you the most popular coding languages for web development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of the series, you’ll have the foundation to start coding your own portfolio website.

Editing Professional Documentary Films with Premiere Pro (Rescheduled)

Tuesday 3/26 | 12-2pm | Instructor: Kiara Simmons

Documentaries give us insight into corners of life we wouldn’t normally be able to get a look into; behind the scenes of celebrity lives, presidential campaigns, true crime, rural towns, and interesting people. Now more than ever, documentaries have made their way into the general media, being watched as much as fiction film & TV. 

While the subject itself may be interesting, how do you edit and craft a documentary to keep an audience engaged? What kind of footage should you get, and what kind of questions should you ask? 

In this workshop, we’ll be teaching the basics of documentary filmmaking while showing you how to edit your own documentary using Premiere Pro. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the knowledge and tools necessary to go out and make your own amazing doc!

Designing Impactful Infographics with Illustrator

Visualizations help readers and viewers understand complex information or data quickly. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to create your own infographics with custom charts and designs, this workshop is for you!

SQL and Python for Data Analytics Series

Structured query language (SQL) and Python are two of the most important skills to hone if you want to become a data analytics expert. SQL allows you to easily find information in datasets and Python is great for data manipulation purposes.
