Adobe MAX in LA

Last week at the LA Convention Center, creative professionals gathered to participate in over 300 sessions, labs, and workshops with industry leaders. This event, Adobe MAX, is an annual conference featuring the latest Adobe innovations. Their newest release is Adobe Sensei, which uses artificial intelligence to speed up workflow across all Adobe apps. In a humbler update, Creative Cloud members now have access to over 14,000 fonts through InDesign and Illustrator. Here are the highlights from CC 2019:

Photoshop will be coming out with an iPad app in 2019, making it even easier to work on the go. Cloud syncing will allow for a smooth transition between desktop and mobile platforms. Other additions include content-aware fill, allowing for exact area selections for fills, and multiple undo.

InDesign now has content-aware fit, automatically scaling images and text to fit in document frames. If you decide to change page size, layout adjustment will resize the existing content to fit a new layout.

Illustrator gradients have taken an exciting turn with the freeform gradient tool. This allows you to easily blend multiple color points throughout a shape. With global edits, you can select and edit similar objects at once, rather than have to edit each object individually. For printed projects, the new trim view provides a useful preview mode.

Lightroom has new features including people view, facial recognition in photos, and other search function improvements. It is now easier to share photos to Adobe Portfolio, Lightroom web, and Apple photo.

Adobe XD, Adobe’s UI/UX platform, has come out with voice prototyping that allows for integration of voice commands in-app. XD is now connected to third-party apps and plugins, such as Slack, Trello, and wireframing kits. Finally, the new auto-animate can create smooth transitions between artboards for a nice UI experience.

Premiere updates include selective color grading, allowing for color adjustment along a curve, and display color management to improve color accuracy on screen. The new Premiere Rush integrates video editing across multiple platforms for fast editing on mobile devices, as well as easy publishing to social media.
